About

Neil Temperley

Dr Neil Temperley has 20 years personal experience in research, innovation, commercialisation, user-centred design, customer engagement and collaboration. For six years he led collaborative innovation at Australia’s first Living Lab in Transport and Logistics at National ICT Australia. He now applies this knowledge to help cities navigate and rethink smart city challenges. The domains of technology innovation and of smart cities share a common goal. They seek to take great ideas — that are enabled by data and technology — from idea to full seamless integration into everyday life. His delivery of Australia’s most extensive investigation into smart city stakeholders (government, industry and research) has confirmed his thought-leadership of the best risk-mitigation strategies to achieve that goal. As a result, he is a leading advocate of rethinking government and stakeholder mindsets; to focus on the customer not the tools and to focus on the opportunities not the problems as a means to bring about genuine, cost-effective change.
